Have I disappeared from the Blogging world? No. Absolutely not. But have I found everything a bit "too much". Yes. Absolutely.
For those who don't know what I do I sell on the Internet. I have been doing so since May of 1999 full time. That means every morning I rise, brush my teeth, wash my face, get into some clothes and walk the 23 paces to my workroom/office and turn on my computer. From 10:00 am to 9:00 pm, most days, I am in this room either shooting pictures, cropping pictures, listing items, delisting items, preparing a mail, paying bills, crafting or placing orders for more inventory to sell on the Internet. It's a job that I love but it IS very time consuming leaving little time for Blogging, Facebook, Twittering and Pinterest - the new social media sites that are fast becoming the way to stay in touch with new and old friends/acquaintances and clients. Frankly, I don't know how so many people do it but then again, they're probably not making a living full time from the Internet.
Working on the Internet, buying and selling, is a wonderful job and one I wouldn't give up. But it doesn't exactly "feed the soul". So I am currently working on a book idea, a new line of handcrafted items and having enormous fun with vintage religious items. I'd love to reinvent jewelry from my new finds but there are so many ladies out there doing it now that there would be no point in my striking out in this direction. Instead, I choose to sell the parts gleaned from the Bible Belt of the Midwest and from my friends in France AND to restore - reconfigure - recreate new items using the vintage components . My current inventory of these items can be found in the shop GYPSY MADONNA on ETSY but GM will be closing soon so that all the inventory is just in one spot. Well, two. Okay, four. Robins Nest Midwest on ETSY, Robins Nest Midwest on RUBY LANE, Robins Nest Midwest on EBAY and www.RobinsNestMidwest.com.
So, like any other lady, I do have my dreams and desires. Having just entered the autumn of my life, I realize that feeding my soul is just as important as keeping a roof over my head. So, starting now, I will strive just a little harder to keep my profile up but I doubt my Blog will do it. I do promise to keep my Facebook up and maybe Pinterest - the other sites may fall by the wayside.
Well, welcome to the world of a middle-aged woman. I think she still has something to offer to the young folk in the way of ideas. It's certainly been a fun journey so far!
Till my next posting.
